issued a joint statement in Berlin on Tuesday calling for sustainable growth following the global financial meltdown.
“Both sides share the opinion that lessons have to be drawn from the financial crisis as well as that a solid reviving and sustainable growth of the economy must be made possible,” the statement said.
The two leaders said that China and Germany will continue to work together in promoting macroeconomic politics and fight against protectionism in global trade.
“Germany will continue to actively support the quick awarding of the market status to China from the EU. China will intensively continue to dialogue with the EU on this issue,” the statement said.
The joint declaration on sustainable growth comes after the comments made by Merkel last week saying that China would need to obey WTO regulations before Germany throws its support behind China’s bid to gain public tenders from the European Union.
