Communication for Sustainable Development

Global Sustainable Cities Network

The Global Sustainable Cities Network ( GSCN ) will provide a platform for pioneering sustainable city initiatives throughout the world; enabling knowledge sharing of city development best practices. It will publish a set of recommendations for driving the commercialization, scalability and cost reduction beginning with focus areas such as waste-to-energy and demand-side management within cities. The Network will also provide a platform to encourage collaboration between cities and drive public private partnerships

A communications hub as “a portal to the future of cities” that are ecologically, socially and culturally sustainable. A project of the Victorian Eco-Innovation Lab (VEIL).
For the first time in history the majority of the world’s population live in cities. How do we reduce the environmental demands of cities whilst maintaining and expanding the cultural and social vitality that can make life in the city so desirable and rewarding? In cities everywhere people are concerned about sustainability. Action is occurring at many levels and on many fronts. SustainableCitiesNet.com is a network and communication system to deliver information, to connect people and projects, to accelerate the city’s transformation across the world.

The term “Sustainable Cities” refers to cities around the world who are actively making changes to become more sustainable. By recognising the interest, motivations, models of these cities we hope to encourage others to also make such changes. If you would like to tell the world about what your city is doing to achieve urban sustainability and would like to add your city to this Sustainable Cities list please do so by making a post on the site.
